About THIS Xanadu -- Who Are We? |
In the spirit of fantastic exploration and poetry, in 1995 we named the Xanadu Gallery of Writing after the pleasure palace of Kublai Khan, memorialized in the poem by Samuel Taylor Coleridge. We believe that all the other xanadu sites have been motivated by the same poem.
In Xanadu did Kublai Khan
a stately pleasure dome decree
where Alph the sacred river ran
from caverns measureless to man
unto the sea....
Some sites at times have even claimed to own title to the name, and one site has even threatened to sue other sites, but... as far as we at THIS particular pleasure palace can determine...
(ahem...)
"While each site certainly owns title to its own intellectual and graphic content -- including one site's nifty little flaming-X logo-design -- we have placed odds with James T. Helene that the actual word itself -- that is to say, udanax spelled backwards -- is probably fully in the public domain." |
*grin* -- we quote ourselves, of course!
That said, this particular Xanadu Gallery of Writing is a cooperative venture established in 1995. We are a small (solo) group (mono-constituent) of singular friends (lose the "s") who decided to get together (subdivide) in order to explore personal publishing on the world-wide-web. In the interests of honesty, yet not to let the fictive mask slip too far, I tell you I am I alone.
We at this particular site are currently (2001) designing, writing, and publishing :
