Ms. Duston is married (although she has kept her mother's married name) to a local graphic
artist who runs screaming whenever we approach him about working with us at Xanadu Gallery. She,
however, has submitted some of her work -- she writes fiction as a sort of hobby, since her main
love is (believe it or not) legal research and victims' rights. Her briefs and motions
have gained her steady, if slow, recognition in the District Attorney's office. She used to
work for the City Attorney, but left there after disenchantment with... but that's another story.
However, it was there she met Carl Wilson, when he was clerking in that office. Began to write
about him on the side, and....
She became friends with Danchar when they were at the university together, back in the wild
and glorious 1980s. They met by chance in the parking lot when he helped pick up a stack
of books and papers she had dropped, read one of her sheets of writing, and expressed appreciation
that she could write so clearly about "legal gobbledigook." They
struck up a conversation over coffee, and discovered they liked to talk, even though she was
pre-law and he was in the writing (literature) department.
A couple years later, when Dano opened his page at xmission/gastown, I asked her to submit something. She came up with Caveat Emptor, the piece about Carl, another writer she met while he was clerking with the City... but now we are repeating ourselves.
Now (2001) she's playing with Elementals, a mythological hypercycle based on her dreams about Heracles. Believe it or.
