Tijuana Gringo : Poems

[vanguardista wheelbarrow]

on the corner

a man sips his

fruit drink

talking with a woman

parked in her car.

six blocks away

after crowded market

sidewalks

another city bus

turns its corner

depending on that

boy juggling oranges

for tips.

You realize, of course, that I have no idea whether or not William Carlos Williams EVER came to Tijuana... yet I feel certain he had heard of this place. It is mythic in proportions. All the world has heard... well, much, at least....

Still, maybe I should read more of his WCW's poetry before daring to do homage, eh? Who knows, he might even mention TJ somewhere.
