(A slightly ``unruly'' sonnet.)

There, o'er the valley where bridges soar high
Above one another, I've seen and I've felt,
With a catch in the breath, what a Thing we have built.
Each car has its purpose, and yet, all comply
And join in the Life that ever on-rolls
In deliberate march and corpuscular flow--
A pond'rous procession ! It seems they might know
They're a part of a whole with a life and a soul !
But always, there must be
Some o, so precious ``I'',
Who passes, swerves and weaves
--And breaks the moment.
Such a selfishness that jars, marring the frieze
And the music of spheres of the 1990's.
