Parents were John Japheth Ebenezar Thomas and Martha McCauley (of the Dear Martha letters). Two older sisters, Ellie and Maggie (mentioned in the later letters), never married and retired after serving as school teachers in Kansas City (oral history from Morris' daughter in law).
Morris served in the U.S. Navy as a hospital corpsman, believed recruited in Detroit (close to Ontario) and honorably discharged (in Seattle) prior to World War I.
Married Nell Jane Cogswell. Two children Jane (Jane Nell Thomas) born 1916? and Bill (William Morris Thomas Jr.) born 1921, both(?) in Seatlle. Moved to Alameda, California. Morris followed a career selling orthopedic plastics to national and international customers. Member, Scottish Rite. Died: 1950, Alameda, California.
