Another afternoon in the park
October begins and I watch two
coppers frisking vagos on the grass
wondering how far I must go to seed
before they begin to go after me.
Ah, the secrets of bourgeois life
& success. There's a lot of other
people they don't touch -- all of us
clean and smiling. Throw one in
the back of a truck, let the
other go. I. I am going
to the library. But first sit
scribbling on the iron bench nearest
the corner of 4th & G. A few
minutes ago Carlos told me in response
to my question that probably the person
who lived in that house I looked at
yesterday was a midwife named
Margareta. I got a good vibe
from his words. Too bad the house
is an utter dump. Well, once
around the park and maybe another
block to look at it again. Or
not; just sit here on the bench to
further enjoy this beautiful afternoon.

(and me?). Tere and I watched him
close the playground last night. I've
seen him around here for months.
