esperando y escribiendoJonesy was the commandants driver of the office of personnel. Most people don't know it but President Franklin Roosevelt used to visit San Diego -- in fact it's said
he preferred it(by those who do know -- mostly Diegans) that he
preferred San Diego to LA any day. When he traveled to Dago, almost always Jonesy was assigned to drive him around. The last time he came was
in 1944, shortly before the electi the Fall of 1944, shortly before the electionsin 1944, shortly before the Fall elections. After FDR left town that trip, my mother asked Jonesy if he was planning to vote for the man. I don't know, he answered, maybe not. Why, mom asked.
